Hostage taking in Manila Philippines

Hostage taking in Manila, Philippines - Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza held some 25 Hong Kong nationals hostage as he demanded to get his job back.

Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza was suspended of his position because of being involved in a criminal case. Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza’s demand was to be reinstated, he was not part of the crime but was only involved because of the involvement of his personnel.

As soon as the tourists along with their driver and photographer had loaded their bus, Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza wen in and announced a hostage taking.

Negotiations were held led by Supt, Orlando Yebra and Chief Insp. romeao Salvador.

The photographer was safely released, Gaining no physical harm or injury.

Start of the crisis cam by early evening, 7:00 PM.

Focus of the media were on  Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza’s. His brother who came on early (around lunch time) wearing only shirt and shorts wanted to help in the negotiations. Earlier that evening he was being arrested and. It was not clear as to why. The live video being broadcasted shows that Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza’s brother was being captured because he says that he will going to be charged as being an accessory to the crime.

His relatives were there pleading not to capture him. They were surrounding him as to prevent or delay police to capture him. Later on, the police have succedded in removing him away from the hot spot and into the car delivering him to an other police station or headquarter.

Soon after  the hostage taker let out stray shots. This made people more conscious and had taken cover. Soon enough, a boy was shot blankly aiming his feet.

Out of straight luck, the bus driver had graciously escaped from the bus through his window. He then aggressively ran towards police bases to seize safety. He was then escorted quickly by a police and held at a room.

A group of police (probably the Swat team) positioned themselves at the back of the bus. A police men with a sledge hammer carefully walks on every side of the bus to pound the windows.

The reason the police can’t enter the base of the hostage is because of the only entrance to the bus was locked and  past that, were dead bodies of the hostages.

The police also tried to break down the door by tying a rope at it and tying its other end on a police car. It didn’t went according to plan as the rope broke during the attempt.

Another run of a police breaking down the bus’ windows was happening. The police again attempted to break in by clearing a passage way through the bus’s back window.

They threw in flashbangs and tear gasses.

Senior Inspector Rolando Mendoza was shot on the temple leading to immediate death.

The police rushed through the side door of the bus to cater to the hostages. Good thing is that some were just wounded or were deemed unconscious. They were immediately brought to nearest hospitals corresponding treatment.

The media and other bystanders also rushed immediately to the scene.

Aftermath

The Hong Kong government  blacklisted the Philippines on its list of countries they forbid their citizens not to travel to.

The blame game was apparent. Much fingers were pointed to the Swat team saying that they were incapable of handling such crisis. The media was also blamed saying that news presenters must be responsible in dealing with the reporting of such delicate news.

Much to the power of globalization. The hostage drama crisis was seen all over the world.  It was the talk on social media sites such as twitter. The news publication were fast that the news were published and spread immediately on various websites.

The relatives of the victims  arrived at the Philippines to see if their loved ones were alright.

The Philippine government provides its support to the victims through hospitalization and medication, counseling and air travel.

Officials said at least seven died in the gunfire, but there was still no overall death toll as of press time.

The bus driver’s escaped was fueled by a alleged nail cutter/nail clipper/key chain  that he had. It was his instrument to break off the handcuffs held on his hands and to the driver wheel.
