Why you don’t need a psychotherapist

by Marco Lee

I. Let’s have a reality check. How many friends do you have? How about, with those number of friends, how many of them do you trust your life with?

The number of people we confide and trust becomes less and less as we age or as we enter a change in our lives. We may move to a new city, have a new job at another building, new neighbors, or new apprentices. So much change in so little time.

This is the world that we live in today. As our social life change, as also the change that affects our self.

As Humans, and as to what the considered founder of humanistic psychology Abraham Maslow proposed us, we need love and belongingness. We need to have the friendship, the intimacy, the care of the people around us. A sense of acceptance, a sense of being one with the rest.

II. The ego have created illusions in our society. This illusions comes with different names. Whether you call the guy a nerd, a geek, an asshole. Whether you call the girl a bitch, slut or try hard. Whether you call a person poor, idiot, stupid, and other derogatory terms that you could think of. The illusion that our ego has created, is insecurity. Insecurity creates Boundary.

III. Boundaries keep us from being healthy. Loneliness, social anxiety, depression are some of the consequences of it. Don’t be the catalyst that starts separation. Be an agent of Oneness. Be a friend.

People not need a psychotherapist. We need a friend. We only need someone to be there. Someone to just listen.

IV. There also comes a time in my life where I tend to be a friend and also had a time where I needed to have a friend. It happens to everyone of us. Problems will exist, and during those times that we truly need someone to confide to. When this happens. Be a friend. Listen to them. Just listen.

Your friends also don’t need an advice. Let me tell you again. People only need someone to accept them, and by listening and understanding you are doing the greatest form of acceptance
